Gone are the days of using washboards and old-fashioned machinery that required physical work on your part. Washing machines are a convenient modern amenity that allow us tackle loads of laundry with ease. Majority of households today are furnished with a washing machine because they make our lives so much easier then having to go out to a nearby laundromat. Over time, your washing machine can have some wear and tear and ultimately lead to water damage in your home. SERVPRO of Scottsdale has dealt with many homes dealing with this exact scenario so we put together some simple tips.
- Only use the recommended amount of detergent. Avoid using too much as this can cause build-up to occur in the washing machine’s overflow tube.
- Do not overload the washing machine. Putting too much in causes the washing machine to shake and can loosen the hoses in the back.
- Inspect the supply line in the back for wear and tear.
- It is recommended to replace the supply hose every 5 years to ensure that it continues to run smoothly. Even if there is no noticeable damage, you don’t know what is happening on the inside so replacing it every 5 years keeps it running efficiently.
