Kit supplies An adequately stocked emergency first aid kit is the foundation of any commercial establishment's safety measures

As a commercial business owner, it's your responsibility to implement the proper safety precautions for anyone who enters your building, employees and customers alike. An adequately stocked emergency first aid kit is the foundation of any commercial establishment's safety measures. Continue reading to see whether your building in Rio Verde, AZ, is prepared to handle severe storms, flooding, or other types of emergencies.

Minimum Mandatory Requirements

The United States Department of Labor's Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) has provided clear guidelines highlighting the minimum required supplies that a first aid kit is required to contain. These minimum mandatory supplies are as follows:

Two sets of different sized gauze pads (4x4 inches and 8x10 inches, respectively)
At least one package of gauze roller bandage, minimum 2 inches wide
A box of band-aids or other approved adhesive bandages, including at least two triangular-shaped bandages
Tweezers
Scissors
Properly sealed moist towelettes, or other approved wound cleaning agents
One blanket, minimum
At least one pair of latex gloves
At least one roll of adhesive tape
Equipment to revive an unconscious person(s), such as a resuscitation airway, bag or pocket mask
Two elastic wraps, minimum
At least one splint
Thorough instructions that can direct a person(s) to request additional emergency assistance

The items listed above are appropriate for a small workplace environment's emergency kit (i.e. two to three employees). If your workplace hosts more employees, then OSHA requires that you provide additional first aid kits in order to accommodate all additional employees. Alternatively, you could increase the number of supplies in each kit so that the kits can serve more than three employees.
Emergency safety care is incredibly important in commercial places of business. In case of an emergency, personal property or other physical items can always be replaced, while human lives cannot. Providing an adequately stocked first aid kit or kits could mean the difference between life and death in the event of a severe storm, flood, or other types of disaster. Contact your local storm remediation experts if you require more information regarding emergency weather protocol.
