How To Get Rid of Mold in Your Home
Mold spores are everywhere. They get tracked into your home on clothing, shoes, hair and pets. If the conditions in your home in North Scottsdale,AZ, are too moist, these spores can turn into mold growth. If you suspect you have a mold problem, there are several steps to get rid of it.
Where To Look
A musty smell is a sure sign that you may have hold somewhere. Start by looking in the most common places:
- Underneath sinks, particularly if you have a leak
- Basement, particularly if you have a problem with high humidity
- Bathroom, particularly if you have plumbing issues
If you don't see patches of mold anywhere, it may be in your HVAC system. When mold hides out of sight, you probably need a professional assessment to identify the type of mold and where the mold growth is located.
What To Do
Call a certified mold inspector to detect the mold. If the inspector finds mold, you will need to hire mold remediation specialists to get rid of the problem. They can identify the source of the problem. Perhaps you have unmitigated water damage that has led to the issue. Dust and moisture create an atmosphere that can lead to fungus growth. Once they find the problem, the remediation process can begin.
How To Fix It
Depending on the extent of the problem, technicians may take a couple of different approaches. If the mold growth is small and goes no further than the surface, they can clean it thoroughly and test to make sure they get it all. If you have large or widespread patches on a wall, however, they may have to remove the affected drywall and replace it.
No matter what kind of mold growth you have in your home, you need professional help to mitigate it. They can test, remove the growth and rebuild any damaged structures to get your home back to normal.
